Battle of Kohima and Imphal is rated as two of the greatest battlefields ever fought in the whole of the British empire. The battle has been referred to by authors such as Martin Dougherty and Jonathan Ritter as the “Stalingrad of the East”. Military historian Robert Lyman said that the battle of Kohima and Imphal “changed the course of the Second World War in Asia… For the first time the Japanese were defeated in a battle and they never recovered from it.

This battlefield tour will take you to revisit the two most important battlefields fought during the British empire.

Day 1: Arrive Dimapur – Kohima

Arrive at Dimapur and transfer to Kohima. Evening at Leisure.

Day 2 : Kohima Sightseeing

Today we shall explore sites in and around Kohima and the Garisson hill where the battle of Kohima took place in 1944.

Day 3 : Sightseeing to Khonoma Green Village

Today we shall drive to the first green village of India. Enroute stop at Grovers memorial, proceed to Khonoma village and do a village walk. Much before the Battle of Kohima in 1944, the warrior village of Khonoma has fought 3 major battles with the Britishers from 1850-1880. Visit the forts and sites in and around Khonoma. Walk into a house, meet and interact with the locals there and have tea. Evening drive back to Kohima, on the way stop at Jotsoma and to see some viewpoint which was used a strategic point to attack the garisson hill. Proceed to Kohima for overnight stay.

Day 4 : Kohima – Imphal (143 kms/5 hrs)

Today we shall drive to Imphal the capital of Nagaland. On the way visit some tribal villages and stop at points and learn more about the battles fought along the Kohima – Imphal highway and vicinities before the Japanese reached Kohima.

Day 5 : Imphal Sightseeing

Today we shall explore Imphal city. Visit Ima market, Shri Govindaji Temple, Kangla fort, Museum and Cemetery. drive to various battlefield sites and get to more about the Battle of Imphal. Drive back to Imphal City for overnight stay.
